Security for Everyone!

Sunday Weekly 12

And here comes another issue of the Sunday Weekly… On Mondays!

Delivery Hero, a popular food delivery service, has confirmed a data breach. The breach exposed more than 727,000 customer details from 14 countries including Singapore, Germany, Spain, France, Finland, Italy, Austria, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, Canada, Sweden, Norway, Australia and the United Arab Emirates. More information here.

Australian surfer, Blaze Roberts, had her Instagram account hijacked. She still has not recovered, so she had to create a brand new account and hopes to regain her 40K followers. How did she lose control of her account, you may ask? Well, she got a phishing email and fell for it.

If you own a Netgear router, please patch as soon as you can. I mean, as soon as Netgear releases a patch. There is a vulnerability communicated to them in early January 2020, and they have not patched it. You have all the details here, including how to find vulnerable devices and PoC.

And some good news, a 29-year-old Michigan man named Justin Sean Johnson was arrested earlier this week for allegedly being behind the 2014 hack of the health care provider and insurer University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), stealing the PII and salary information of over 65,000 employees, and selling it on the dark web. You have the press release here.

And some good news. Adobe Flash arrives at the end of Live on the 31st of December 2020. Finally. This was already announced some time ago, and I have to admit I did not believe it at the time, thinking they would always find a reason to keep it. But no, I was wrong, and here we have the web page that Adobe has put in place to inform you. We will still get security patches until the end of the year 2020, and beginning 2021, we will not be able to download it, and for sure, most (if not all) of the browsers will no longer support the plugins.

No need to search for this anymore 🙂

That’s all for now! Remember to follow me on Twitter and, as usual, stay safe!
